Calvary Chapel Davao Bulletin 1st Week of July 2012

Pastor’s Message

1 Timothy 6:1-2 All who are under the yoke of slavery should consider their masters worthy of full respect, so that God’s name and our teaching may not be slandered. 2 Those who have believing masters are not to show less respect for them because they are brothers. Instead, they are to serve them even better, because those who benefit from their service are believers, and dear to them. These are the things you are to teach and urge on them.

Paul gave these instructions to a young pastor Timothy how he should teach and urge God’s people on how they are to work outside and inside the church. In other words, Paul here is telling us that we must serve and work wholeheartedly! By being honest w/ our time, to show full respect and to serve our employers w/ sincerity and love. With that in mine, may all of us do an excellent work to God and to men and to let God’s light shine upon those people we’re serving so that God may be glorified in us.

Psalm Reading

Psalm 60
1 You have rejected us, God, and burst upon us;
you have been angry —now restore us!
2 You have shaken the land and torn it open;
mend its fractures, for it is quaking.
3 You have shown your people desperate times;
you have given us wine that makes us stagger.
4 But for those who fear you, you have raised a banner
to be unfurled against the bow.[e]
5 Save us and help us with your right hand,
that those you love may be delivered.
6 God has spoken from his sanctuary:
“In triumph I will parcel out Shechem
and measure off the Valley of Sukkoth.
7 Gilead is mine, and Manasseh is mine;
Ephraim is my helmet,
Judah is my scepter.
8 Moab is my washbasin,
on Edom I toss my sandal;
over Philistia I shout in triumph. ”
9 Who will bring me to the fortified city?
Who will lead me to Edom?
10 Is it not you, God, you who have now rejected us
and no longer go out with our armies?
11 Give us aid against the enemy,
for human help is worthless.
12 With God we will gain the victory,
and he will trample down our enemies.

Calvary Chapel Davao Bulletin 4th Week of June 2012

Pastor’s Message

1 Timothy 4:15-16 Be diligent in these matters; give yourself wholly to them, so that everyone may see your progress. 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Paul mentioned in the previous verses about the things we need to be diligent with and I will quote some of it :v5 By the Word of God & Prayer, v7 Train himself to be godly, v10 To put his hope in the Living God, v12 Set as an example, v13 Devote himself to the Scriptures and more.
With these basic things, we need to be: 1. Diligent 2. fully Dedicated 3. Watch our character 4. patient and endure.
And the promise if we do all these = Our life will be preserve & the lives of others as well. So, as you work hard physically be sure that you are also working hard (diligent) for the things that brings glory to God.

Psalm Reading

Psalm 59:9-17
9 You are my strength, I watch for you;
you, God, are my fortress,
10 my God on whom I can rely.
God will go before me
and will let me gloat over those who slander me.
11 But do not kill them, Lord our shield,[a]
or my people will forget.
In your might uproot them
and bring them down.
12 For the sins of their mouths,
for the words of their lips,
let them be caught in their pride.
For the curses and lies they utter,
13 consume them in your wrath,
consume them till they are no more.
Then it will be known to the ends of the earth
that God rules over Jacob.
14 They return at evening,
snarling like dogs,
and prowl about the city.
15 They wander about for food
and howl if not satisfied.
16 But I will sing of your strength,
in the morning I will sing of your love;
for you are my fortress,
my refuge in times of trouble.
17 You are my strength, I sing praise to you;
you, God, are my fortress,
my God on whom I can rely.

Happy Birthday

Calvary Chapel Davao Bulletin 1st Week of June 2012

June 3, 2012 By Calvary Chapel Davao Leave a Comment

Pastor’s Message

Job 2:10b Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?

The context of this chapter talks about Job’s terrible trials in life and this verse was Job’s response to his wife because of her foolishness – urging Job to curse God and kill himself.
Now reflect on this beloved, within one year the Lord gave us most of the time good health than sickness, He gave us more provision than poverty, more love and grace than painful trials and problems. So, we need to have this kind of attitude like Job, he never lose hope, he persevere (enduring w/ patience) under trials and continue to declare: “Blessed be the name of the Lord.”

Psalm Reading

Psalm 57
New International Version (NIV)
1 Have mercy on me, my God, have mercy on me,
for in you I take refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
2 I cry out to God Most High,
to God, who vindicates me.
3 He sends from heaven and saves me,
rebuking those who hotly pursue me—[c]
God sends forth his love and his faithfulness.
4 I am in the midst of lions;
I am forced to dwell among ravenous beasts—
men whose teeth are spears and arrows,
whose tongues are sharp swords.
5 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.
6 They spread a net for my feet —
I was bowed down in distress.
They dug a pit in my path—
but they have fallen into it themselves.
7 My heart, O God, is steadfast,
my heart is steadfast;
I will sing and make music.
8 Awake, my soul!
Awake, harp and lyre!
I will awaken the dawn.
9 I will praise you, Lord, among the nations;
I will sing of you among the peoples.
10 For great is your love, reaching to the heavens;
your faithfulness reaches to the skies.
11 Be exalted, O God, above the heavens;
let your glory be over all the earth.
