WE BELIEVE worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give great place to music in our worship.
WE BELIEVE worship of God should be intelligent. Therefore, our services are designed with great emphasis upon the teaching of the Word of God that He might instruct us how He should be worshiped.
WE BELIEVE worship of God should be fruitful. Therefore, we look for His love in our lives as the supreme manifestation that we have been truly worshipping Him.
In Calvary Chapel services they focus on a personal relationship with God through worship, prayer and the teaching of God’s Word.
A Brief History of the Calvary Chapel Movement:
In 1965 Pastor Chuck Smith started his ministry at Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa . Beginning with 25 people, he saw God bless his simple, yet consistent style of teaching straight through the Bible.
Today Calvary Chapel draws over 20,000 attendees weekly.
Pastor Chuck Smith started his ministry for a generation of hippies, surfers, and drug addicts. This movement was instrumental in bringing thousands of young people to Jesus Christ during the 60’s and 70’s in what was known as the Jesus People Movement.
God has expanded the ministry to and international organization with over 1,500 Calvary Chapels participating in the Calvary Chapel Outreach Fellowship . We are independent non-denominational Christian churches that recognize the same philosophy of ministry and style of worship.
A Brief History of Calvary Chapel Davao:
In April of 2002, two American missionaries with their families (Pastor Ken and Jolina Pascua with Michael & Meiyen Ohlmann ) came to Davao City to begin a Calvary Chapel Church plant. The Pascua’s were sent out by Calvary Chapel Costa Mesa , while the Ohlmann’s were sent out by Calvary Chapel Tri-City Arizona.
It started as a home fellowship in Belasario Heights, Davao with 16 people. After one year, the fellowship grew and transfered to a building at 544 Lacson St., Obrero, Davao . During that first year, Chris and Trina Clayton came along side and worked in the church. They later formally became missionaries sent out by Calvary Chapel Fort Lauderdale, Florida.
We have taught through the New Testament and are now on our second time around teaching chapter by chapter, verse by verse. While in our mid-week study, we have taught through the Old Testament Pentateuch, and working our way through the Historical books.
Since then, the Ohlmann’s have been called out to take over the church in Cagayan de Oro now known and Calvary Chapel Golden Grace. While the Clayton’s are now serving in their local Calvary Chapel church in Florida. The Pascua’s had the calling to work at the Calvary Chapel Training Center in Dumaguete City.
Edging Tariman’s early walk was discipled and mentored by Ptr. Ken Pascua to help him be equiped in the ministry with the help of our Lord Jesus Christ.
As of April 2009, Edging Tariman has been called to pastor the fellowship. He will be joined together with his bride Virmalene. Both of them were saved and discipled in the fellowship.
And on June 2009 Ptr. Edging was called by God to take over Calvary Chapel Davao.
